Our Impact

The hard truth…Traditional (Private) Adoption is expensive. We’re talking $40,000 - $60,000. And I have found that most people I speak to about Fore Adoption are surprised by that fact. They just didn’t know. On top of that, the percentage of failed adoptions happens more than you think.

Another hard truth…despite foster care adoption costing little to nothing, the number of children stuck in the foster system continues to rise, soon to eclipse 500,000 in the U.S. alone. On top of that, the percentage of kids “aging out” of the foster system (at 18) continues to rise, and a higher and higher percentage of those end up on the street, enslaved by drugs, in gangs, in jail, and/or committing suicide. This is a true crisis in our country that doesn’t get enough attention.

For these reasons and more, many families who have the heart to adopt are burdened by the perception that traditional adoption is too expensive…and fostering to adopt is too hard. They’re just unsure how they could manage the financial and emotional sacrifice.

Our belief is that adoption should be unshackled from such an albatross. You may know that term albatross as “something that causes deep anxiety”…or perhaps, “a large, web-footed seabird.” In GOLF, however, an albatross is known as a “double eagle,” which is scoring 3 under par on a single hole. For perspective…the chances of a hole-in-one is 12,000 to 1. An albatross…6 million to 1.

Many would-be adoptive parents consider the costs of adoption (whether traditionally or through the foster system), not only a subject of deep anxiety, but…for them…a near impossible feat. An albatross.

Fore Adoption exists to partner with husband/wife families seeking to adopt (whether traditionally or through the foster system…domestic or international), aiding them financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Families can apply for grants to cover attorney fees, home-studies or travel ($100 - $2,000)…or go even further by partnering with us on a Golf Event Fundraiser, with the potential to raise $3,000 - $20,000 or more toward their adoption.

Fore Adoption also aims to raise public awareness of the crisis in our foster system, hosting mentorship programs to serve foster agencies, the kids and their families. We are continuing to build relationships with Foster Agencies through the U.S. and raising the funds in order to fulfill our greater vision.

Make no mistake…the VISION and IMPACT described above cannot be fulfilled without you. This is not just F.A.’s Impact, it will be ALL OF OUR Impact…because we can’t do it without you.

If you play golf and have a heart for adoption, please consider being a GOLFER in one of our upcoming Golf Events. If you are not a golfer and have a heart for adoption, please consider being a SPONSOR who can make a single or ongoing (monthly or annual) donation. We are also looking for CORPORATE PARTNERS (business owners) and LEGACY PARTNERS (lifelong donors) to provide the funds needed for event/business and staff expenses, as well as grants to be distributed to adoptive families who reach out to us.

Fore Adoption, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization, so all donations are a tax-deductible gift.

Thanks so much for your commitment to help us fight…FORE adoption!

children in Foster case

...with a turn over rate of 30-50% among foster parents. According to the most recent federal data, there are currently more than 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. They range in age from infants to 21 years old (in some states). The average age of a child in foster care is more than 8 years old, and there are slightly more boys than girls.

cost to adopt

The Child Welfare Information Gateway, a U.S. government-funded adoption information service, estimates that the average U.S. adoption costs $8,000 to $40,000. If you're adopting a child from another country, the range is $15,000 to $30,000. If you're adopting through foster care, which generally involves becoming the parent of an older child, the cost is much lower: zero to $2,500.

AVERAGE YEARS TO ADOPT

Your adoption wait time could be lower or higher depending upon where you adopt from, and the type of adoption you opt for can play a part in the wait time as well. For example, if you decide to adopt from outside of the country, you will have to follow not only your home country’s adoption rules, but also the rules of adoption in your child’s home country. With the combination or requirements, rules, and stipulations, waiting for your child can become a long process.
